Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is one of the best young stars in the NBA today. The past three seasons have been very successful for him as he was named an All-Star in each of the past three years and has led his team to the playoffs for two consecutive seasons.

But despite his stellar play and how much he has achieved for his team, the 26-year-old still feels he has not gotten the respect he deserves. Wall also understands that it comes with winning games and leading his team to greater heights, which he is ready to prove to everyone this season. Per Andrew Sharp of Sports Illustrated:

“They still don’t respect me. But I mean, that’s something that comes with the games. I’m gonna let people know this season.”

“And I don’t know. You know what I mean? You have career years, when you’re winning games, you start an All-Star Game, and you’re still not put on the top three All-NBA teams. That lets you know. But all I can do is control what John Wall does. Going out there and leading my team. You’re not getting any recognition as a point guard if you ain’t winning.”

The Kentucky product is staying true to his word and is off to a hot start to the season with averages of 22.3 points, 11.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals a game, but even with his incredible numbers, the Wizards have yet to win a game so far in three tries.

The good news for the Washington faithful is it's still the early part of the 2016-2017 campaign. The team is equipped with a good balance of young players and seasoned veterans. They have also added key pieces to their lineup over the summer who can contribute to them especially late in the season. They have an experienced coach in Scott Brooks who is more than capable of turning a team around, just like what he did in his days with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Wall and company will look to win their first game and stir the ship to the right direction when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.
