Head coach of the Clemson University Tigers, Dabo Swinney, made some interesting comments regarding the transfer portal and NIL deals during the early signing period.
It doesn't seem like coach Swinney is too fond of the transfer portal, and the new transfer rules. Whether that be because Clemson isn't getting the guys that he wants, or he just isn't happy about it, he's definitely a bit upset about the new rules.
Swinney had this to say on Wednesday,
“It's crazy, it's really sad, to be honest with you,” Swinney said Wednesday at Clemson's signing day ceremony. “There's right around 2,000 kids in the portal and most of them don't have anywhere to go. There's so much tampering going on and so many adults manipulating young people. It's sad, but you know, it is what it is from that standpoint. You've got a lot of young people that; there's a time and a place, but most of the kids are in there when they shouldn't be in there.”
Clemson had a disappointing season this year as they finished with a 9-3 record overall and went 6-2 in the ACC. This isn't necessarily a bad year for most teams, but a team of Clemson's caliber certainly doesn't expect to lose three games and play in a bowl game named the Cheez-It Bowl. They're usually one of the four final teams in the College Football Playoffs and not making it there is certainly a disappointment for them.
Clemson was able to add 12 players to the class of 2022 during the early signing period on Wednesday.
