Sanders has spoken openly in the past about his health problems, as he has fought with blood clots in his feet and legs for several years. He's even faced amputation of his toes due to the clots, and had two of them removed.
While Sanders is making his way toward better health, he's also bringing back the Colorado football program back from the dead. Sanders coached the Buffaloes to a 4-8 record in 2023, and improvement from a woeful 1-11 season in 2022. Sanders' son Shedeur is also a big hit at this year's College Football Playoff festivities, posing for pictures with fans at meet and greet sessions. Shedeur plays quarterback for the Colorado football program.
Article Continues BelowDeion has another challenge ahead of him. The Colorado football program is leaving the Pac-12 Conference, and heading to the Big 12 for 2024 conference play. The Buffaloes are going to the Big 12 along with Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. Colorado will be facing some of the best teams in college football year in and year out, and will have to navigate a new league with longer travel times, including trips to West Virginia, Ohio and Florida.
Sanders will have some help, as the Buffaloes have some stellar high school recruits coming in, as well as solid players from the transfer portal. This is in despite of the fact that several talented recruits chose to de commit from the school. The future looks bright for Colorado football and Deion Sanders isn't letting anything stand in his way from getting the job he wants done.
