Illinois is making a chance at quarterback. Son of legendary gunslinger Jeff George, Jeff George Jr. is getting a chance to make a name for himself from this point moving forward.
Lovie Smith recently confirmed the move and this will likely be a welcomed sight to Illinois fans. Many remember the parental George as a weird NFL player who probably received far too many chances, but he's a legend around those parts.
As for Jeff George Jr., he doesn't exactly have his father's pedigree. At least we don't yet believe that to be the case.

George started four games as a redshirt freshman last season. This season, he’s played in one game, completing 12-of-21 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 47-23 loss to South Florida in Week 3.
I suppose all that is left is to see exactly how far this apple falls from the tree. For the sake of Smith and the Illinois football program, all involved are likely hoping he's more similar to dad than not.
