The Oklahoma Sooners are a fine football program. Let's preface this entire post with that, as we are about to have some fun at the university's expense.

Details of first-year head coach Lincoln Riley's contract have emerged. While he isn't exactly making Bob Stoops type of money, nor should he be (yet), he has some crazy perks in his deal.

As for the ho-hum semantics of it all: Oklahoma approved and released Riley’s new deal. In its most basic form, it is a 5-year contract that pays him $3.1 million annually and rises $200,000 a year. For comparison, Stoops made $5.5 million in his last season, while Riley earned $900,000 as offensive coordinator.

That's the boring stuff.

Let's get to some of the tomfoolery that isn't exactly odd, but it is still hilarious in a place in space and time when folks are still saying there's no loot to be had for student-athletes.

Lincoln Riley has some neat perks, which include 25 hours of private airplane use, two private golf club membership, and bonuses ranging from $25,000 for winning Big 12 coach of the year honors to $250,000 for a national championship.

25 hours of private airplane use can be explained away via recruiting. However, I would prefer to pretend that Riley is using those 25 hours to go on global trips in which he is a real-life version of James Bond.

Also, why in the heck does he need two different private golf club memberships? I know variety is important in life, but he better be a great golfer if Oklahoma is giving him that sort of leeway on the links.
