The commitment date for 5-star Ohio State football recruiting target Brandon Baker is set for September 24. The Buckeyes are competing with Texas football, as well as Oregon and USC. Out of Mater Dei High School in Southern California, Baker is the No. 1 offensive lineman in the class of 2024. Like many others, he will announce his decision live on the 247Sports YouTube channel.
“September 24 is my birthday, so I felt like it was a good time to announce,” Baker said, per 247Sports. “It has been a really fun process, but I have a good idea what I want to do, and I’m ready to get this done.” Sounds like Baker has already made up his mind.
One of these top college football programs is getting an elite talent next year. The top tackle in his class, Baker is also the No. 2 player in the state of California and the No. 21 player in the country.
His scouting report reads: “Athletically-built offensive lineman who can live long term on the outside. Owns adequate height with above average length and frame space to continue adding mass. Plays mad and it shows in the run game. Excellent drive blocker who looks to finish blocks to the ground. Displays impressive lateral quickness and range when required to pull or reach targets at the second level.”

“Texas was a great trip, too, and I can definitely see myself there,” Baker said. “They have everything you need to be successful and I really like the overall fit and comfort level for me there.”
Baker's own words make Ohio State football seem like the impending choice, however. “I liked all my visits but Ohio State was probably my favorite one,” Baker said. “I just really like the coaches there, coach Day and I’m very close with coach (Justin) Frye. He might be the OL coach I’m closest with and I really like the plan they have in place for me.”
