The UCLA Bruins football team was set to face the N.C State Wolfpack–the sixteenth-ranked team in the country–on Tuesday in San Diego for the Holiday Bowl. That was until the entire UCLA football team decided it was time for a couple of field trips.

First, it was a trip to Sea World, and then it was a trip to the Naval Base to tour a battleship. While both of those things may sound like fun, they are not practical ideas for college football teams to do at this point in time. When you are preparing to play a bowl game in three days against a superior opponent and with COVID-19 rapidly spreading in your state, it was a much wiser choice to stay at home and enjoy the nice weather in San Diego. The first to publicly call out UCLA's shenanigans was Unnecessary Roughness on Twitter:

The Bruins are paying the price by losing their bowl game and the money that comes with it. It sucks for the fans of both teams, especially N.C. State fans that have traveled all the way across the entire country to be there for this one single game. It also sucks for the T.V. broadcasters that were set to air this game and are now out of the sponsor money that it would bring in. But most of all, it sucks for the players with no remaining years of eligibility who were set to lace up their cleats and play with their brothers one last time.
