The red hot Georgetown Hoyas (13-12) look to continue their historic run against the Colorado Buffaloes (22-8) in a Saturday matinee. This is a tale of two stories as the Hoyas had to win four games in four days to get here and the Buffaloes essentially secured their spot before the start of the season. Many tickets will come in on the Hoyas as they're a fan favorite. Rightfully so as their path to the tournament was a magical one. Entering the Big East tournament with a losing record, Georgetown had to upset four teams in route. Let’s continue our NCAA odds series and make a Georgetown-Colorado prediction and pick.

Here is how the sportsbooks have set the odds:

NCAA Odds: Georgetown-Colorado Odds

Georgetown Hoyas +5.5 (-110)

Colorado Buffaloes -5.5 (-110)

Over 138 Points (-110)

Under 138 Points (-110)

Why Georgetown Could Cover The Spread

I will continue to harp on just how impressive the run that Pat Ewing's squad went on last week. In his third season as head coach, Georgetown gets their first taste of the tournament under their legendary leader. They defeated four teams in four consecutive days. Even if they get blown out Saturday, they will still look back on 2021 as one of the most exciting seasons in school history. This team isn't one to look over, though.

Georgetown definitely has its glaring weaknesses, but they also have some strengths that they've capitalized on at the right time. Three-point shooting has been their best asset on the offensive end, finishing the season shooting 37.6% from beyond the arc. This was the second-best clip in the Big East. This team can compete with anyone in the country in the paint, too. The Hoyas rebound and block shots very well as a team. They voraciously attack the offensive glass. Qudus Wahab averaged a staggering 2.5 offensive boards per game. They will look to shoot with confidence and abuse the Buffaloes down low. Energy will be the difference-maker for the Hoyas.

Why Colorado Could Cover The Spread

Colorado is making its first March Madness appearance in five years. Coming off of a loss to Oregon State in the Pac 12 tournament, the Buffaloes still enter the field with high hopes. They finished the season with a record of 22-8 SU and 17-13 ATS. The Buffaloes have been one of the most consistent teams in the nation on both ends of the floor. They are 20-4 SU as a favorite this season and come into Saturday with the utmost confidence.

The Buffaloes sport an elite defense and a stable offense. Colorado allowed just 63.3 points per game in 2021 and won't back down from a very turnover-prone Georgetown team. That is where the disparity truly lies in this matchup. The Hoyas have butterfingers compared to the Buffaloes' sticky hands. Colorado averaged 11.2 turnovers per game, which was the second-lowest rate in the Pac 12. They will attack the paint and look to get to the charity stripe often, where they shoot at an 82.2 percent clip. This is the second-best team free throw percentage in the nation. Their offensive success will lie in the success of Jeriah Horne (42.1% from 3) and team leader McKinley Wright IV (15.5 PPG& 5.6 APG).

Final Georgetown-Colorado Prediction & Pick

I will be forever impressed with the run that the Georgetown Hoyas have made in 2021. However, I'm predicting that their run will end on Saturday. Colorado is too consistent and possesses a far more talented roster. The Hoyas will end up beating themselves. The turnovers and lack of ability on the defensive end will prove costly. Colorado will slow the pace and capitalize on Georgetown's plethora of blunders.

FINAL PICK: Colorado -5.5 (-110)
