Cousins' injury didn't deter the Falcons from signing the 35-year-old Cousins to a long-term deal. The deal includes $100 million guaranteed money, including the $50 million signing bonus.
However, after 14 games, the disappointing Falcons benched Cousins in favor of rookie first-round draft pick Michael Penix Jr. Atlanta had just ended a four-game losing streak but only scored 15 points in a narrow victory over the lowly Las Vegas Raiders. Cousins threw for 3,508 yards with 18 touchdowns and an NFL-leading 16 interceptions.
