Despite the fact that it's been over two weeks since Kevin Durant demanded a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, there appears to be real progress in the same. At this point, it wouldn't be a complete shock if KD ends up suiting up for Brooklyn when the new season starts.

NBA guru Brian Windhorst of ESPN recently provided some insight on Durant's current situation with the Nets. The Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns are two teams that have emerged as likely destinations for the former league MVP, but at this point, it's not as if either team — or any side in the NBA, for that matter — is scrambling to get their hands on KD:

“I'm not even sure the Suns can put together an offer that the Nets would be interested in by themselves,” Windhorst said. “I think this is where the other teams are as well.

“I think the other teams have said, ‘Brooklyn, here is our offer. I don't have any incentive to raise our offer because I know nobody else is raising theirs.'”

Durant and the Nets are caught between a rock and a hard place here. KD has already made it abundantly clear that he wants out, and for their part, Brooklyn has shown their willingness to oblige. It's likely going to get a bit awkward once both camps realize that a trade might not happen because of the fact that opposing teams have reportedly balked at Brooklyn's trade demands.

“The executives are going on vacation… At this point, the Nets’ preferred situation is for Kevin Durant to stay with them. There is no trade that they’ve got that they like.”

Could this have been Brooklyn's plan all along?
