With veteran forward Wilson Chandler facing a 25-game suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs by the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets will choose to move the 32-year-old to the suspended list, per ESPN's Bobby Marks, thus clearing a roster spot.

According to Marks, the Nets already have 15 guaranteed contracts, though, so should Brooklyn sign another player after moving Chandler to the suspended list following their Friday evening home matchup with the Houston Rockets, then the team would have to come to terms with an athlete on a non-guaranteed deal.

Chandler, a 6-foot-8 tweener forward, signed a one-year, minimum contract with the Nets this past offseason after spending the 2018-19 season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers. He was traded to L.A. as part of the Tobias Harris deal.

Chandler has experience playing in the Big Apple, as he started his professional career with the New York Knicks from 2007-11. The Knicks had selected Chandler in the first round of the 2007 draft before being included in the Carmelo Anthony trade package—his first instance of being moved out West, this time to the Denver Nuggets.

Fans have clamored to get semi-retired forward Carmelo Anthony active again and possibly playing for a team like the Nets, who saw the 10-time All-Star practice and scrimmage with players in the offseason.

It's unlikely, though, that a former star like Anthony would commit, or not commit rather, to a non-guaranteed contract just to play again.
