Kevin Durant is someone people just really love to hate, for one reason or another. The Brooklyn Nets superstar has been on the receiving end of a ton of slander ever since he decided to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder back in 2016.

As a rising star trying to figure out his NBA path, Durant looked out to his current coach in Steve Nash five years ago to try and gain some wisdom before making his big move.

According to author Matt Sullivan, Nash and Durant initially linked up in 2016, before the two-time Finals MVP decided to change squads. And, Nash didn't mince his words and told KD straight up what the greats like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant all had done in their careers.

“You know what I respect about LeBron?” Nash told KD (h/t to fadeawayworld.net). “I respect the fact that when he got to Miami and he got sick of the narratives, sick of the haters, all the talk. You know what he did? LeBron just said f-ck it and was great. Same with Michael, same with Kobe. Same with all the greats. They all had to say fuck it and then they were all on that next level. So you know what you gotta do? You just gotta say ‘f-ck it' like LeBron did.”

And the rest, as they say, was history. Durant moved to the Bay Area and won two championships with the Golden State Warriors. After missing out on potentially winning a third ring with Stephen Curry and the rest of Dub Nation, Durant moved to Brooklyn before the start of the 2019-2020 NBA season.

Now, both Durant and Nash are trying to control the narrative in Brooklyn as the duo tries to deliver the organization its first-ever NBA title.
