Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, and Seth Curry joined the Brooklyn Nets over two weeks ago. They were traded from the Philadelphia 76ers on February 10, right before the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline. Curry and Drummond have four games under their belts in Brooklyn, but Simmons has yet to take the game-day court in a Nets uniform.

According to Nets head coach Steve Nash, Simmons is working towards his Brooklyn debut but isn't quite there yet. The Athletic reporter Alex Schiffer tweeted the news Saturday afternoon.

Nash said that Simmons has been involved in skill work, physio, and individual work. However, he has yet to participate in a high-intensity workout. The workout is a huge gauge as to whether or not Simmons is ready to return to games in the NBA.

The Nets point guard last played in an NBA game last season in the Sixers' Game 7 Eastern Semifinals loss to the Atlanta Hawks in June of 2021.

The Nets' starting lineup is constantly shifting, especially because of the limited availability of Kyrie Irving. However, New York City Mayor Eric Adams hinted at easing the city's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. This would allow Irving to be available for all of the Nets' future games.

In the next few weeks, both Simmons and Irving could be available for the Nets full time for the rest of the regular season. More importantly, the roster could be stacked just in time for the Nets to prepare for and dominate a potential playoff run.
