The NFL draft is right around the corner, as the first round is set to begin on April 29th. With plenty of talented prospects available this year, each franchise aims to improve their roster for the future. For the Cincinnati Bengals, the front office has a difficult choice ahead of them.

According to Yahoo Sports, The Bengals have been zoning in to select either Ja'Marr Chase or Penei Sewell. However, based on a report from a close source, it sounds like the Bengals are leading towards picking Chase fifth overall.

“That's the vibe given off via a new report from Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer, who told Jason McIntyre on Fox Sports Radio the following: ‘The latest I’m hearing is the Bengals are targeting Ja'Marr Chase, Joe Burrow's former teammate at LSU.' “

Ja'Marr Chase opted out of the 2020 season but proved to be one of the top receivers in college football during the LSU Tigers' national championship run. During his sophomore campaign with Joe Burrow under center, Chase eclipsed 84 receptions, 1,780 yards, and 20 touchdowns. To say he was Burrow's favorite target would be an understatement.

Drafting Chase makes a ton of sense. The Bengals quarterback already has built chemistry with the talented prospect, and Chase is considered to be the best receiver available in the draft. Cincinnati's offense suddenly becomes a legitimate threat, as the roster would contain Burrow, Chase, Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, and Joe Mixon.

Most believe the smart choice would be to draft Penei Sewell, as the Bengals' offensive line is well below average. However, it would be difficult to pass up on Chase, especially considering he'd come in already comfortable with the quarterback.

Only time will tell if this comes to fruition, as we won't know for sure until April 29th. The Bengals sit in a great spot, as they're in a position to select a top prospect no matter what.
