Following in the footsteps of other sports leagues, the NFL is taking strides to contribute to other causes outside of the game of football. The league will reportedly allow the players to display names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and other racially-motivated police brutality victims on their helmets as decals.

These will be put on a thick white strip and be placed in the back of the helmet where multiple organizations currently print the names of their teams. The names will be visible enough when cameras pan a close-up view of the players while on the field.

The names will only come from an approved list by the league which will include the likes of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, among others. The initiative will also last the entirety of the upcoming 2020 season.

The subject of the Black Lives Matter movement continues to be a hot topic across America. The National Basketball Association (NBA) have started with their own initiatives wherein players can write phrases or statements at the back of their jerseys. The league also installed a ‘Black Lives Matter' phrase on the courts that the teams are playing on to spread awareness to their viewers.

Athletes across all sports continue to maximize their platform in order to educate the public about the issues being experienced in the American society today. They became more vocal of their plight to stand for the victims and have committed to using their influence for a greater cause.

With the ongoing violence and brutality issues seemingly not coming to an end soon, expect the league and its players to come up with further measures to address the matter moving forward.
