Sebastian Janikowski has retired from the NFL.

The 41-year-old Janikowski ended his 19-year NFL career (18 seasons with the Oakland Raiders) on April 28, per Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper.

Kicker Sebastian Janikowski's long run in the NFL has come to an end.

Janikowski is retiring from the NFL 19 years after he was drafted in the first round by the Raiders. He spent the next 18 seasons with the team and closed out his career with the (Seattle) Seahawks in 2018.

‘It was a good run. I still think of the Super Bowl – it still hurts,' Janikowski said, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Janikowski makes reference to Super Bowl XXXVII, which the Raiders lost, 48-21, to the (Tampa Bay) Buccaneers in San Diego after the 2002 season.

It was one of nine career playoff games for Janikowski, including last year's Seattle loss to Dallas which saw Janikowski leave early due to a thigh injury.

According to ESPN, Janikowski hung up his cleats because “he thought his body couldn't handle the rigors of kicking in the NFL any longer.”

Janikowski also earned a total of $53.29 million in his 19-year NFL career – the most any kicker has made, per Spotrac.com (via ESPN).

Janikowski retires as the Raiders' all-time leading scorer with 1,799 points. His 1,913 carer points also rank 10th in NFL history. His 436 made field goals, and 542 field goal attempts rank ninth and 10th, respectively, in league history, per ESPN.

The Raiders made Janikowski the 17th overall pick of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Florida State University. With his retirement, New England Patriots quarterback is the only remaining active player from that draft class.
