NFL icon Tom Brady is accustomed to high-pressure scenarios, but as he transitions to his new role as a broadcaster for FOX Sports, he confesses to experiencing the same pre-game jitters.

In an interview on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd, Brady discussed his upcoming challenge as a broadcaster and emphasized the importance of meticulous preparation for achieving success in his new role.

Brady, who will be part of FOX Sports' lead NFL broadcast team, shared his enthusiasm for his new role and admitted to missing the structured routine that football provided in his life.

“I believe that broadcasting at FOX this year for the first time will give me a lot more structure like I'm used to.” Brady said.

“And I really actually will look forward to that,” he continued.

The path towards Tom Brady's first live football broadcast

Brady mentioned that he anticipates feeling nervous before his debut on FOX Sports' lead NFL broadcast team, which will feature Kevin Burkhardt, Erin Andrews, and Tom Rinaldo, during the Week 1 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns in the 2024 season.

He explained that nerves were common for him, even during his legendary NFL career where he won seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVPs, three NFL MVPs, and set numerous passing records, solidifying his status as one of the greatest football players ever.

Tom Brady recently experienced his first live football broadcast during Sunday's UFL Championship Game, working alongside Curt Menefee and Joel Klatt. He has also been practicing by reviewing archive game footage in the FOX Sports studios in Los Angeles.

The NFL legend believes that the key to his success as a broadcaster will hinge on his preparation. He emphasized the importance of feeling prepared and ensuring that the entire crew is also well-prepared. Brady wants to provide the best possible analysis and commentary to enhance the broadcast for the fans and contribute positively to the overall show.

Tom Brady signed a record-breaking 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox Sports in 2022, making him the highest-paid sports commentator in broadcasting history. He will take over as the network's top analyst, replacing Greg Olsen, who held the position alongside Burkhardt for the past two years.

“From my standpoint, I'm gonna work as hard as I can in the process of it to make sure I do deliver, because I don't want to let anyone down. I don't want to let the people at FOX here down, and I certainly don't want to let the great NFL fans down either,” Brady highlighted.

Brady has demonstrated his ability to analyze games he has watched and shares numerous insights about the NFL. The true test will be his capability to break down plays in real time and provide valuable insights into the ongoing action, offering viewers a deeper understanding of what is happening at any given moment.

Last week, during his Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Foxborough, the New England Patriots retired his No. 12 jersey.

Similar to his illustrious playing career, there are high expectations for Brady as he prepares to make his official NFL broadcasting debut.
