Former NFL running back Trent Richardson continues to impress as a member of the Birmingham Iron, a franchise that is part of the newly founded Alliance of American Football. Despite the fact that Richardson is typically classified as a bust in terms of his NFL playing days, the former Alabama Crimson Tide standout is currently dominating the competition in the Alliance of American Football.

Richardson has already carried the football 59 times en route to rushing for 145 yards. Although averaging less than three yards per carry as it stands today, he is far and away leading the pack in regards to rushing touchdowns. With no other player rushing for more than two touchdowns in the Alliance of American Football, Richardson currently leads the league in this category thanks to his six scores.

Not only is Richardson performing better on the field these days, but it appears as though the former NFL running back is thinking a little more clearly as well.

“I was hurt as a young man at the time,” the 28-year-old Richardson recently told NFL.com. “I wore my emotions on my shoulder. I was hurt by the game not being loyal to me and I had to realize as I get older that it is much bigger than me. I had the chance to see the business side of it and I get it now being older and wiser.”

During his NFL playing days, which lasted from 2012 to 2016, the former No. 3 overall pick suited up for the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens.
