The San Francisco 49ers will take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a 49ers-Bengals prediction and pick.

This should be one of the most entertaining matchups of the weekend. The 49ers are 3-1 in their last three contests, including impressive victories over the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings. Their recent success has pushed them into the playoff picture in the NFC, and another win here would place them in the lead for a wild card spot. Unfortunately, they have to face a talented Bengals squad that is also in playoff contention. Cincinnati has won two of their last three contests, so both teams head into this game with plenty of momentum. This game should have a playoff-like intensity to it, so let's get into the pick.

Why The 49ers Could Cover The Spread

The 49ers have put together four straight strong offensive performances, and this game shouldn't be any different. The Bengals are one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL, as they give up an average of 254 air yards per game. Cincinnati also allows a whopping 66% completion percentage to opposing quarterbacks. San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garappolo has been playing some of his best football lately, and that should continue here.

It's late in the season, which means that injuries are piling up all over the league. The Bengals are no exception, as they have one of the longest injury reports in the NFL. Quarterback Joe Burrow, running back Joe Mixon, wide receiver Tee Higgins, linebacker Logan Wilson, and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie have all missed practice this week. All of those listed are key starters, so the Niners should be facing a battered version of these Bengals.

Why The Bengals Could Cover The Spread

While Cincinnati may not be a premier pass defense, their run defense is certainly something to write home about. The Bengals currently rank inside the top ten in terms of rushing yards allowed per game and yards per carry allowed. The Niners rely on their run game to get the offense working, so this elite run defense will play a huge part in this contest.

Coincidentally, the Niners also have an injury report that's about a mile long. Center Alex Mack, running backs Trenton Cannon and Elijah Mitchell, cornerback Emmanuel Mosley, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel will all be questionable at best for this contest. There are a couple of key starters on that list, so the Niners will be far from full strength in this one.

Final 49ers-Bengals Prediction & Pick

This game will be a close one, but one side has the clear edge. The Bengals can stop the run and move the ball against anyone in the league, assuming that Joe Burrow is playing. If Burrow plays, take the Bengals as home underdogs. If not, lock in the 49ers at anything less than five points.

Final 49ers-Bengals Prediction & Pick: Cincinnati Bengals: +1.5 (-106)
