Why The Browns Could Win

The Cleveland Browns have had many ups and downs this season. They have had to deal with injuries and controversy but managed to put that all to the side last Sunday. The Browns are coming  off a 25 point victory against Cincinnati. It seems like things might be starting to fall into place for Cleveland. Now that the team is mostly healthy they will be trying to make a late season playoff push. The Browns did lose Nick Chubb again due to COVID, but that shouldn't stop them from competing on Sunday.

Leading the way for Cleveland is Baker Mayfield. Baker missed one game this season, but besides that he has been very consistent. Through eight games of play Baker has thrown for over 1900 yards, 8 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions. The fourth year quarterback hasn't been making too many mistakes and has been playing very clean football. If Mayfield can crank it up a notch then the Browns could really make a run. He's been pretty safe with how he's played so far and maybe a few more risks could pay off. Expect Baker to step things up on Sunday.

On the other side of the ball has been the phenomenal Cleveland defense. The Browns rank 3rd in the league in total yards allowed. Opposing offenses have been held to less than 310 yards of offense per game. The Browns have held opposing rushers to less than 85 rushing yards. Cleveland will be facing a rookie quarterback this week and will look to exploit him. Through their defense Cleveland has been able to compete and win games against tough opponents. Expect the Browns defense to play a big part on Sunday.

Why The Patriots Could Win

The New England Patriots are hot right now. They have won four of their last five games and have really seemed to come together as a team. New England dominated the Panthers last Sunday, winning 24-6. If the Patriots can continue to string wins together then they could make a late season playoff push. There are still a lot of questions surrounding this team. This Sunday's test against Cleveland will be a good challenge for the young New England team. The Patriots are more than capable of walking away victorious.

Leading this New England team is rookie quarterback Mac Jones. Jones has thrown for over 2,100 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. These are very impressive numbers for a rookie who has been put in a tough situation. Being forced to start as soon as you're drafted is very tough, but Mac Jones has handled it well. He seems to have found his groove and is a big reason for this team's success. If Jones can have a good game against one of the toughest defenses in the league, then Patriots fans should be very excited about the future.

The Patriots defense this season has been very solid. They rank 9th in the league in total yards allowed. New England has been holding opposing offenses to 340 yards per game. The Browns will be without their star running back and the Pats will look to capitalize on this. The Patriots have been very good at stopping the pass this season, holding opposing quarterbacks to only 230 passing yards a game. If New England can limit Cleveland's offense then they should be able to win this game.

Final Browns-Patriots Prediction & Pick

This is a really tough one. The line is super close for a reason, this game could easily come down to which team has the ball last. The Browns did just completely destroy a very solid Bengals team. On the other hand, the Patriots were able to put up 24 against one of the best defenses in the league and dominate in that game. The Patriots are hot right now and they're returning home after a two game road trip. The Browns have had more struggles and momentum seems to be on New England's side. Pick the Patriots to win and cover and get ready for a nail biter.

FINAL BROWNS-PATRIOTS PICK: New England Patriots -2.5 (-110)
