Why the Chargers Could Win

The Chargers are having a great season so far. They are 4-1 with their only loss coming against a very solid Cowboys team. Los Angeles is looking to make a playoff push and there's no reason to think that they won't.

Leading the Chargers is second year quarterback, Justin Herbert. Herbert is having a sensational sophomore season in the NFL. Through 5 games he has thrown for nearly 1600 yards, 13 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions. Last week he led Los Angeles to a victory against Cleveland in a 47-42 thriller. Herbert threw for just shy of 400 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interception. The young quarterback is making himself known in this league and Chargers fans should feel very good about the present and the future.

It helps that Herbert has been throwing the ball to a Los Angeles receiving core that is really coming into its own this season. Mike Williams is having a breakout year. Going off for nearly 500 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns across 5 games. His performance has distracted from Keenan Allen who quietly has almost 400 receiving yards this season. The LA receivers will be very tough to handle and will look to go off in Baltimore.

Lastly, the Ravens defense is the third worst in the league in stopping the pass. Baltimore allows nearly 300 passing yards per game. LA will certainly look to capitalize on this weakness in what looks to be an offensive heavy matchup.

Why the Ravens Could Win

Coming into Week 6, Baltimore has not lost a game since Week 1. Even that loss came by only 6 points. Week 1 can be tough for some teams, it's the first time of the season they get tested. Errors are more likely and you find out what kinks need to be ironed out. The Ravens have certainly learned from that loss and have been on a tear since. The Ravens are running hot and teams are having a difficult time finding an answer for this unique team.

Setting the pace of every Ravens game is 2019 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson is a beast and should be feared by every team in the league. People are always skeptical of his actual quarterbacking abilities but let's look at the numbers. Through 5 games he has thrown for over 1500 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. This man is a quarterback. When you add in the rushing numbers it's almost unfair. Lamar has over 300 rushing yards this season and 2 rushing touchdowns. It is safe to say the NFL has not “figured him out”.

What should be of massive help to the Ravens is the poor rush defense of Los Angeles. The Chargers have the worst rush defense in the league. They allow nearly 160 rushing yards per game to opposing teams. The ground game is Baltimore's bread and butter, so this looks like a hugely beneficial matchup. Just this stat alone should make Ravens fans very excited and optimistic about Sunday's matchup.

Final Chargers-Ravens Prediction & Pick

This game is going to be a close one. In their last four meetings these teams are 2-2 against each other. The line is set at a field goal for a reason, this game will likely come down to who has the ball last. Beyond the money line, the over is an enticing pick. Neither of these teams have stellar defenses and both have high powered offenses. When it comes down to it, Baltimore should be able to pull through and get a home victory against Los Angeles. Either the over or Baltimore -2.5 are solid picks. With the way these teams play, lean towards picking the over and get ready to watch a fun offensive heavy game.

FINAL CHARGERS-RAVENS PICK: Over 51 (-110)
