The Seattle Seahawks will attempt to build onto their 28-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts when they host the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. The Titans will look to rebound from a disappointing 38-13 home loss to the Cardinals, where the offense could not get anything going. It’s time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Titans – Seahawks prediction and pick.

Why the Titans Could Cover the Spread

Tennessee had a very rough home opener to start their 2021 campaign. The Titans allowed Arizona to put up 38 points on 416 total yards. They looked disastrous and let Kyler Murray throw for four touchdowns and rush for another. The Titans offense allowed Ryan Tannehill to get sacked six times and Tennessee turned it over three times as well.

With the Seahawks up next, they will not face a team as explosive as the Cardinals; however, they will need to contain Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett, who connected on four passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Colts.

The Seahawks have concerns at cornerback, so Julio Jones and AJ Brown should expose them. The Titans front will need to protect Tannehill and give him time to throw the football this game. These teams have not met in three years but, Tennessee is 2-0 against the spread in their last two matchups. The Titans are also 7-3 against the spread in their previous ten games on turf. Also working for Tennessee is that the Seahawks are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games against a team with a losing record.

Seattle opened their season on the road in Indianapolis, where they looked very lethal in this new offensive scheme. They totaled 381 yards of offense and averaged 7.2 yards per play. Russell Wilson threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns on 18 of 23 passes, spreading the football to Tyler Lockett for 100 yards and DK Metcalf for 60 yards. Additionally, Wilson averaged 13.4 yards per completion with a 78.26% completion percentage. He should be able to throw all over the field against this Titans secondary that gave up close to 300 yards through the air last weekend.

Defensively, Bobby Wagner led Seattle with 13 total tackles while Darrell Taylor, Benson Mayowa, and Rasheem Green all had a sack in the win for the Seahawks. Seattle is 5-0 against the spread in their last five September games.

Final Titans – Seahawks Prediction and Pick

Sunday will be the first home game for the Seahawks, and the 12th man will be hyped up for this one. The stadium will be loud and full of energy anticipating a 2-0 start for their squad. Although this feels like a rebound spot for the Titans, it’s difficult to believe that they will be able to stop Russell Wilson and this high-powered offense. Wilson is out for blood this season and seeking to win his first MVP award. The chemistry with his receivers, specifically Tyler Lockett, was evident in Week 1, and he shows no signs of stopping on Sunday afternoon. Back Seattle to cover the spread and win by a touchdown.

Final Pick: Seattle Seahawks -5.5
