The Washington Football Team will take on the New York Giants to end the season. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Washington-Giants prediction and pick.

With both of these eliminated from playoff contention, pride is the only thing left to play for. Washington had a shot at playing in the postseason, but losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys destroyed those hopes. A win against a division rival would be a decent consolation prize for a disappointing season from head coach Ron Rivera and crew.

The Giants were the definition of disappointing this season, and their recent stretch of five consecutive losses didn't do anything to help that perception. Winning this game would at least provide a morale boost to a young New York roster that has high hopes for the future.

Why Washington Could Cover The Spread

While Washington's defense hasn't been as good as expected, they shouldn't have much trouble against the Giants. New York has been absolutely abysmal on offense behind quarterback Mike Glennon, as they haven't scored more than ten points in nearly a month. In his last three starts, Glennon combined for 216 passing yards, one touchdown, and six interceptions. That's obviously a horrendous stat line, and Glennon's poor play has been represented in the Giants score every single week. Even the Football Team won't have trouble keeping New York out of the end zone in this one.

New York hasn't been any good on defense recently either. The Giants have allowed 29 or more points in three of their last four games, including a contest with the Chicago Bears, a notoriously poor offensive unit. The last time these teams played, New York allowed 30 points to the Football Team. There's no reason to think that this game will yield any other result.

Why The Giants Could Cover The Spread

It's the end of the season, which always means that injuries are effecting just about everyone. Washington is no exception. Starting running back Antonio Gibson is on the COVID reserve list, along with starting left guard Ereck Flowers. Starting defensive ends Montez Sweat and James Smith-Williams will likely enter this game with a questionable designation at best. Washington is already thin on the defensive line because of a variety of injuries, so the absence of Sweat and Smith-Williams could be devastating.

The Football Team didn't have much success in the win column this season, largely because of their poor performances on the road. Washington is currently 3-5 when they play away from home, including losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and the Denver Broncos. New York obviously hasn't won too many games either, but three of their four victories have come at home. The home crowd at MetLife Stadium should play a big part in this game.
