The Atlanta Falcons' slow start to the 2020 NFL season shouldn't be happening considering the changes made on the team's defensive operations. Falcons head coach Dan Quinn instated Raheem Morris as the new defensive coordinator who currently shares responsibilities for calling plays with linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich.

The pairing has been unsuccessful after the team's defense allowed a total of 78 points and 953 yards in two losses thus far into the season. Despite the struggle, Quinn adamantly said that he has no plans of making changes in the team's coaching staff.

“No,” he said, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “No changes. I’m involved in all of the defensive calls and all of the preparation as well. . . . Well, I didn’t say it’s going to remain as it is from our performance, but in terms of the process that we go through I have a lot of confidence in the staff. I have a lot of confidence in the players that we will get the performances that we are looking for.”

The Falcons managed to hold their ground against a dominant Seattle Seahawks for the most part of their opening game back in Week 1. However, a huge third-quarter scoring run made by the visiting team widely opened the deficit. The Falcons eventually ran out of time to mount a comeback to which they were dealt with a 38-25 beating.

Another third-quarter scoring drought proved to be crucial in the Falcons' second game against the Dallas Cowboys. Quinn and his men blew a 20-point lead which eventually handed the Cowboys their first win of the season via a 40-39 victory.

After losing their first two outings, Quinn may be more inclined to make necessary adjustments as they aim to grab their first win of the season in their next game against the Chicago Bears on September 27.

Maybe third time's the charm for the Atlanta Falcons' struggling defense?
