Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank is continuing to clean house. On Monday afternoon, the Falcons fired special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Falcons' special teams unit performed adequately across the board on Sunday, but Kotwica's unit committed the biggest special teams debacle of the NFL season in Week 2. With fewer than two minutes to go and the Falcons leading the Dallas Cowboys, 39-37, Dallas improbably recovered an onside kick off the foot of Greg Zuerlein. Atlanta's recovery squad simply watched as the ball calmly spun past the 10-yard mark, allowing Dallas to jump on the ball.

According to Football Outsiders, the Falcons ranked 28th in special teams DVOA through five weeks of the 2020 season — the same spot they finished at in 2019.
