The Atlanta Falcons and Dan Quinn entered the 2019 campaign with high hopes.
Thanks to a high-powered offense and an improving, healthier defense, many had the Falcons pegged as a sleeper team in the NFC, with some going as far to say that Atlanta could potentially make the Super Bowl.
Well, eight weeks in, that is obviously not going to happen.
The Falcons have lost six games in a row and are just 1-7 on the season, and with Atlanta now going into its bye week, owner Arthur Blank said that the he will meet with some front-office executives to discuss the team's future.
You have to think that head coach Dan Quinn will be a major discussion point in that meeting, and there does seem to be a chance he could be out of a job by Week 10.
But Quinn isn't stressing over his future:
“Well, I can honestly say like all the time and all the attention I have I couldn’t think of a bigger waste of my mental health and space,” Quinn said, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “All I want to do is see if we can get it right. That’s what we want to deliver for Arthur. That’s what we want to deliver for the fans, for the team, and have the performances that the city deserves. That’s really important. So to spend any time or moments thinking what if I don’t, that would only take away from that. We feel horrible he had to address some of the issues that are going on, but nothing’s more important than getting it right. That’s really where I spend my time and attention.”
Quinn took over as head coach of the Falcons in 2015 and has gone 37-35, leading Atlanta to a pair of playoff appearances and one trip to the Super Bowl, where the Falcons infamously blew a 28-3 lead in a heartbreaking overtime loss to the New England Patriots.
