Matt Ryan understands that the Atlanta Falcons can't get off to a slow start as they have in recent seasons. Following a dismal year from the Falcons, Ryan shared Atlanta's key to success for the 2020 NFL season.

While making an appearance on ESPN's Sportscenter, Ryan spoke about what the Falcons need to do to return to being a successful team:

“It's going to be important for us to get off to a fast start,” Ryan said. “[To] make sure that at the beginning of the year we're right in the mix so that when we get those division games late in the year, we've got a chance to separate or do what we need to do.”

It seems like forever ago since the Falcons were steamrolling their way to the Super Bowl to square off against the New England Patriots. Back in 2016 — the year they advanced to the Super Bowl — Atlanta boasted an elite offense and a decent defense.

Despite having valuable pieces on offense still, the Falcons have fallen to the wayside in recent years. Just two years ago, in the 2018 season, Atlanta began with a 1-4 record and failed to make the playoffs at 7-9.

Then, just last season, the Falcons had a putrid 1-7 start — causing some to believe that Dan Quinn was on the hot seat. Regardless of their strong finish to the season, Atlanta concluded the season with a 7-9 record and came up empty on making the postseason once again.

There's no denying the fact that the Falcons have a large sum of talented players on the current roster. Ryan, who's entering his 13th season in the NFL, realizes that Atlanta needs to put that talent to good use — and in a hurry.
