Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones has made it clear that he wants a new contract but even through all the contract talks, Jones hasn't seemed to change and that has impressed quarterback Matt Ryan.
Ryan was asked via Vaughn McClure of ESPN about what advice he would give to Jones as he waits for the contract extension and Ryan said Jones should be the one giving everyone advice.
“He knows how to handle it. He handles it in his way, and he handles everything that comes his way really well. I have so much respect for him as a player, but even more respect for him as a man, as a person, as a friend. He should be the one we're going to for advice. He's so mature and wise beyond his years that maybe it should be the other way around. He's on top of it and understands that it's a business but at the same time, prepares and has himself ready to play and cares 100 percent about winning.”
Jones has two years left in his contract and w0uld like the contract to happen sooner rather than later. Falcons owner Arthur Blank has made it clear a few times this off-season that a contract will get down at some point.
When exactly that point will be is up in the air, and until it's down there is no doubt going to be a discussion about it getting done.
When the extension is done, it is believed he could be the highest paid wide receiver in the league, and that is something that Ryan thinks Jones deserves.
“I don't like to get involved in other people's stuff, but he deserves everything that comes his way because he's an unbelievable player and is as talented and productive as anyone. He changes the game as much, if not more, than any player in the league.”
