Earlier this offseason NFL offensive lineman Marshal Yanda decided to call it quits, retiring from the Baltimore Ravens after 13 seasons with the organization. Similar to other former offensive linemen, Yanda has dropped significant weight just two months after retiring.
This past Sunday on ESPN, Yanda revealed he spent countless hours trying to lose weight. After setting goals for himself, Yanda exclaimed that has dropped nearly 70 pounds since retiring from the Ravens.
“There are two words: It’s the ‘want to,’” the former NFL talent said, via ESPN. “If you want to do it, you’ll do it. It’s how bad you want to. People want to talk about it, but at the end of the day, do you really want to? That’s important.”
When Yanda played for the Ravens, he was able to make eight Pro Bowls and was a two-time All-Pro. Above all, he was able to help Baltimore secure a Super Bowl victory back in 2012.
In addition, during his playing career as an offensive guard, Yanda was listed at 312 pounds. However, since he's had time to lose weight, the All-Pro offensive lineman now weighs in at 245 pounds.

The former Ravens guard shared that he was consuming 6,000 calories per day in the NFL. But with his recent diet, Yanda has trimmed his calories to around 2,200 calories per day.
We've seen former NFL offensive linemen lose weight once they walk away from football. Most notably, Joe Thomas of the Cleveland Browns had a noticeable transformation once he retired in 2017.
Sometimes when players retire, there are rumors that they could unretire and play again. Seeing that Yanda is no longer the size of the typical offensive linemen in the NFL anymore, he won't be returning to the NFL unless he plays tight end.
