The Baltimore Ravens are looking to go running back by committee in 2020. The Ravens drafted Ohio State standout J.K. Dobbins to add to an already crowded position group. Dobbins joins Pro Bowler Mark Ingram, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill on Baltimore's roster.

General manager Eric DeCosta made an appearance on”The Lounge” and talked about many things including what he envisions for the quartet of running backs. DeCosta said he expects they will use their running backs like they used their three tight ends last season. Via the Ravens' team website:

“I would equate it to us last year having the tight ends that we had — the three tight ends … [Offensive Coordinator] Greg [Roman] did an amazing job of taking those tight ends and really creating something special that made us very tough for defenses to play. And now we've got the four running backs and they all do different things well. It just makes us, I think, a really, really well-rounded team that's tough to defend.”

The Ravens ran the ball a combined 596 times last season, which was 98 carries more than the second-highest team. Quarterback Lamar Jackson is a running threat nearly every time the ball is in his hands and now with four additional backs likely getting carries, it's clear the team is sticking with a run-heavy offensive approach.

Having so many running backs in the mix in addition to Jackson will be difficult for opposing defenses to plan for. The Ravens should be able to wear down teams with their various backs, and that seems to be just what they are planning to do.
