The Baltimore Ravens officially have Marquise Brown in the fold. The team announced they had agreed to terms with the first round pick on his rookie contract Wednesday.
The Ravens added Brown with the 25th overall pick in April's draft. Baltimore is heading into their first full year with Lamar Jackson under center, and they've made rebuilding the offense around him a priority. They let John Brown and Michael Crabtree walk in free agency, and drafted Brown and Miles Boykin early in the draft.
Brown was one of the fastest receivers in the nation at Oklahoma, and put up gaudy numbers with Kyler Murray. Unfortunately, Brown hasn't been able to get in any work with his new team yet. Brown had a foot injury that required Lisfranc surgery shortly before the draft, and has been sidelined ever since.
Lisfranc injuries can be very serious and tricky to recover from, but the team has consistently said his rehab is going smoothly. As of right now, the team is targeting training camp for his return. The sooner the better, as Brown could use all the reps he could get with Jackson.
Jackson was a dynamic playmaker as a rookie, but he sometimes struggled pushing the ball down the field. Brown and his speed should help with that. In 12 games last year, Brown had 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Sooners.
With Brown inked, Boykin is now the only unsigned member of Baltimore's draft class. The CBA is very vague with its language surrounding third round picks, so they often take longer to sign.
