Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have garnered a plethora of different opinions with their up-and-down start to the 2023 season, oftentimes from the same people. Although the Ravens left fans extremely frustrated two weeks ago with a choke against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they have since bounced back with two straight wins, and Jackson has been playing like an MVP candidate as of late.

Recently, it was unearthed that sports media personality Stephen A. Smith of ESPN directly contradicted himself on the issue of whether or not Lamar Jackson is worth the massive contract he signed this past offseason, first stating that Jackson was not worth the money, and then stating the exact opposite of that opinion two weeks later without acknowledging his previous remark.

Of course, it's important to note that very few if any viewers are tuning into Stephen A. Smith's ESPN show First Take in the hopes of finding cogent, well-thought-out sports analysis. Rather, the draw for these sorts of shows largely lies in the “people yelling at each other” nature of them that relies on disagreement and hot takes in order to generate entertainment.

Thus, if directly changing one's opinion is needed in order to make a debate entertaining, the show's producers and personalities likely won't hesitate to go there. Still, that probably won't make things less frustrating for Ravens fans, who are sick of hearing the disrespect that their star quarterback Jackson takes on a weekly basis.

The Ravens next take the field on October 29 against the Arizona Cardinals.
