McCoy is working his way back from an injury that he suffered in the season finale win over the Miami Dolphins that saw him get carted off the field. It had been initially believed that he would be forced to sit out the Wild Card game, but he has been able to practice on a limited basis over the last few days while working his way out of a walking boot.
Article Continues BelowHe had stated on Thursday that his status for the contest would hinge on being able to physically make a cutting motion with his injured ankle. The fact that he was able to continue to participate in a limited fashion certainly bodes well for him being to take the field.
The presence of McCoy could provide a massive boost to the Bills as he factors in as the primary offensive piece this season. He finishing fourth in the league with 1,138 rushing yards with six touchdowns while hauling in 59 catches for 588 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. This includes ranking fourth in the NFL with 1,586 scrimmage yards this season, which made him just the fifth player in franchise history to have multiple campaigns with at least 1,500 scrimmage yards.
If for any reason he is unable to play against the Jaguars, Buffalo will lean on Mike Tolbert, Marcus Murphy, and possibly even quarterback Tyrod Taylor to lead the rushing attack. Ultimately, there will be clarity on this situation once Sunday swings around.
