The Denver Broncos are currently fighting the flu and appear to be losing the battle with humans' biggest cellular enemy.

Or something. Whatever. Let the semantics be left alone.

Anyway, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post, Trevor Siemian is one of many Denver Broncos players to come down with a “flu bug.”

“Hopefully guys can take care of themselves and we can get a handle on that,” coach Vance Joseph said. “It’s about four or five guys that are sick right now, especially our D-line.”

How do you get a handle on it? This isn't like guys playing tag when they should be studying film. Mother Nature, and her diseases, do not care if Vance Joseph or the Denver Broncos attempt to get a handle on her doings.

Man, coaches really think they can control Mother Nature, eh?

“A couple of us got it,” Siemian said. “I’ll be all right.”

To be fair, I don't know if the flu technically falls under the Mother Nature umbrella. The flu, while often associated with cold weather, can hit at any time of the year. Pinning the blame for Denver's sick players on (my good friend) Mother Nature doesn't seem too fair.

With Siemian regaining his starting job after Paxton Lynch got hurt, it would be awful for Denver to have to go to yet another quarterback. Then again, the Broncos have used all three of the quarterbacks currently on the roster at various points this season.

Nevertheless, sorry for the slander, Mother Nature. You keep doing you.
