Although he did not play in the 2017 season, it has been an eventful return to football for Washington Redskins safety Su'a Cravens. Cravens' application for reinstatement was a success and he is now poised for a comeback.

Needless to say, his sudden retirement may have worn out his welcome in Washington. As a result, the team is reportedly in talks with the Denver Broncos regarding a potential trade for the young safety, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport:

The Broncos are in talks to trade for Redskins S Su’a Cravens, sources say. They are the team most interested and the likely landing spot for the talented former 2nd rounder, though no deal is done yet.

Washington took Cravens with the 53rd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The former USC product showed plenty of promise as a hybrid between linebacker and safety, and he was quickly named the starting strong safety en route to a modest rookie campaign.

Cravens was slated to start once again in 2017 before announcing his intention to retire a week prior to the season opener. The team initially hoped he would postpone his decision by allowing him to take whatever time he needed to deal with problems off the field. However, it was not long before Cravens was designated to the reserve list.

Unsurprisingly, his antics did not gain him any favor within the organization, and he now seems to be on his way out. The move certainly makes sense for the Broncos as they look to add some depth to their formidable defense. Furthermore, Washington's asking price should not be too high considering all that has happened thus far.
