Since inking a three-year, $42 million deal to join the Chicago Bears in NFL free agency back in March, there has been some uncertainty about former Pro Bowl wide receiver Allen Robinson's availability to start the 2018 season due to his recovery from a torn ACL.
It appears that Robinson has continued to take progressive steps forward in his recovery as Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network that he won't be placed on the physically unable to perform list before the start of training camp later this month.
Nagy says #Bears are still going through physicals, but he doesn't expect anyone to start camp on PUP. That means WR Allen Robinson, among others, is ready to go.

This is an encouraging sign for the Bears given that the team has high hopes on him to step into the leading receiving option role in the passing game for second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky next season. When healthy, Robinson has proven to be a highly productive player that can excel as the top receiving threat as he's just two years removed from his breakout year where he recorded 80 catches for 1,400 receiving yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns that helped him earn a Pro Bowl selection. This helped him become the first Jaguars' receiver to compile over 1,000 receiving yards in a single season since Jimmy Smith back in 2005.
Robinson hasn't had any steps back in his recovery over the last several months as he should be full tilt from this point on with the Jaguars taking a bit of a precautionary approach with the situation. At the pace he is currently headed, this should see him get some playing time in the preseason to help him get his feet under him ahead of the 2018 regular season while helping him build a strong bond on the field with Trubisky.
For the time being, this is another step forward toward Robinson being able to quickly find his place in the mold as primary fixtures in helping the Bears compete for the playoffs.
