ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano has predicted the Chicago Bears will draft Iowa State Cyclones running back David Montgomery.

Graziano responded to a fan's question on April 7 on who will lead the Bears in rushing in the 2019 NFL season.

Montgomery told the Ames Tribune's Dylan Montz during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis he had discussions with many NFL teams.

I've met with a lot of teams. I don't have an exact number, but I know a lot of teams. The experience has been a great experience being able to showcase myself.

It's been, bar none, the best experience I've had here is being able to show teams here the kind of guy I am and how my character is on and off the field.

Montgomery's NFL Draft and Combine Profile on the league's official website describes him as a running back with potential as an NFL starter.

One of the safest runners in this draft with a desirable combination of size, vision, toughness, and creativity. He runs with impressive calm and instincts in the midst of interior mayhem, weaving and battering his way through traffic.

Smart teams will recognize his ability to create yardage for himself with his eyes, footwork, contact balance, and power. Should alleviate concerns about his lack of explosiveness. Montgomery has a pro-ready game and Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) value as a good NFL starter.

The Bears have no first- and second-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. They surrendered the 24th overall pick to the Oakland Raiders as part of the controversial Khalil Mack trade last season. Chicago doesn't pick until the third round. The Bears have the 88th pick.

Will Montgomery fall that low?

That is an unlikely scenario. ESPN draft experts Mel Kiper, Jr. and Todd McShay rank Montgomery the fourth and third running back, respectively. It seems Chicago has to trade up in order to snag Montgomery and make Graziano's prediction come true.

Montgomery, a two-time Pro Football Focus First Team All-American, concluded his three-year stint at Iowa State sixth all-time in rushing yards (2,925) and eighth all-time in rushing touchdowns (26), per the school's official athletics website.
