The most recent defeat for the Chicago Bears had a more bitter taste as the game was highlighted by an on-field scuffle between receiver Javon Wims and New Orleans Saints cornerback Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy didn't like what he saw from Wims and voiced his disappointment regarding his player's actions, as per Chris Emma.

Nagy also assured that corresponding consequences will be rightfully handed down to Wims in the aftermath of the incident. The heated exchange occurred at the 9:11 mark of the third quarter when Bears quarterback Nick Foles just completed a 5-yard pass to receiver Allen Robinson II. Wims broke off a route and approached Gardner-Johnson from behind and threw a punch to the cornerback.

It was followed with a slap to the facemask before Saints cornerback Janoris Jenkins jumped in the thick of things. Jenkins wrestled Wims to the ground before Bears and Saints players gathered to break the commotion.

Earlier in the game, Gardner-Johnson already got in the nerves of Bears receiver Anthony Miller which prompted the violent reaction from Wims. The game ended with the Bears suffering a 26-23 loss in overtime to drop to a 5-3 record while the Saints improved to a 5-2 tally.

After the game, a possible suspension is most likely the punishment for Wims. Nonetheless, Nagy and the rest of the Bears are still waiting for the final word by the league regarding the recent incident.

It is still yet to be determined if the Bears will hand down their own suspension to the third-year receiver or not.
