The Chicago Bears failed to follow through on the hype in the 2019 NFL season opener versus the Green Bay Packers. It seems their abysmal performance on offense even took head coach Matt Nagy by surprise.

The Bears put up a mere three points against the Packers' defense in Week 1. According to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, Nagy admits this game had gotten away from him.

“We didn’t run the ball enough last night. … For me, I’ve never been a part of a game like that. Weird game. No rhythm.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Nagy's comments. Aside from being shut out the final three quarters of the game, the Bears' mustered up just 254 yards of total offense. Perhaps the bigger concern is that their most glaring issue came under center.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky struggled to find his footing all game. He ultimately completed 26-of-45 passes for 228 yards and a costly interception. The nature of his incomplete passes and the five sacks that he had taken indicates that he is still working on the issues that plagued him last season.

Although Trubisky struggled to find his rhythm, he did not get much help from Nagy's play-calling. He was not able to provide much balance in their approach after opting to only run the ball 15 times for 46 yards. He has since acknowledged his shortcomings when it came to the pass-heavy scheme against Green Bay.

The Bears will have a few extra days to regroup and prepare to bounce back against the Denver Broncos in Week 2.
