Expectations are high for the Bears this season. Chicago made the playoffs in the first year under coach Matt Nagy, and many expect it to take another leap forward in year 2.

NFL Network's Adam Rank is among those that expect big things in 2019, and provided us with one of the offseason's best lines in regards to the Bears.

“I will be shocked if the Chicago Bears are not in the Super Bowl,” Rank said on an episode of Good Morning Football on the NFL Network.

While the comment drew the attention of many, it may not be as crazy as some think.

The strength of the team is on the defensive side of the ball, and that unit is largely still in tact. The Bears finished second in total defense in 2018, giving up 299.7 yards per game. The unit was first against the run (80.0 yards per game) and seventh against the pass (219.7 yards per game).

The biggest challenges for the Bears will likely be on the offensive side of the ball, where it finished last season 21st in yards per game with 343.9. Though it did finished ninth in points per game, averaging 26.3 points per contest.

All the pressure will be on quarterback Mitch Trubisky to perform at a level that can allow the Bears to achieve those goals. Trubisky showed flashes of brilliant play at times last year, but also showed plenty of inconsistencies.

If the Bears make the Super Bowl, it will be because Trubisky played well enough to get them there.
