The 5-5 Chicago Bears will travel to historic Lambeau Field in Week 12 to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football on NBC.
The Bears, who started the season 5-1, are a walking disaster at the moment. They have lost four games in a row against the Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings. Chicago also has the worst offensive line in the NFL and the second-worst offense overall.
Only the winless New York Jets have a worse offense than Matt Nagy's Bears.
The Packers, meanwhile, are once again playing really well. Although they lost to the Indianapolis Colts in overtime in Week 11, Aaron Rodgers and Co. are sitting atop the NFC North standings with a stellar record of 7-3. It looks like the Packers are going to win the NFC North for the second straight season, which isn't too much of a surprise since Rodgers is the best quarterback in the division.
In Week 12, the Bears will be starting Mitchell Trubisky over Nick Foles, who hurt his hip in Week 10 against the Vikings. The former Super Bowl champion has been awful as the starter in Chicago, so Bears fans are looking forward to seeing what Trubisky can do since he's more mobile and athletic, something the quarterback in Chicago needs since the offensive line is giving up sacks left and right.
With the Bears-Packers game almost here, let's take a look at four bold predictions for the contest from a Chicago perspective.
1. Mitchell Trubisky throws one touchdown, two interceptions
Before he got benched for Foles in the second half against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3, Trubisky threw six touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 59.3 percent of his passes and racking up 560 yards through the air. The Bears are 26-18 in Trubisky's 45 starts, but we have the former No. 2 overall pick struggling in his return to the lineup against the Packers.
In five career games against Green Bay, Trubisky is 1-4. He has thrown four touchdowns, three interceptions and racked up 1,265 passing yards.
In Week 12 versus the Packers on Sunday Night Football, we have Trubisky throwing one touchdown and two interceptions. The Bears' offense may look a little better with Mitch under center rather than Foles since Trubisky can extend plays with his legs, but overall, Chicago's offense is still really bad due to their putrid offensive line and it's not like Trubisky is that much more of an upgrade over Foles.
2. Allen Robinson catches seven balls and one touchdown
Bears wideout Allen Robinson is just about the only player who has performed well on offense this season for Chicago. He has 63 receptions for 755 yards and three touchdowns.
Against the Packers, we have Robinson catching seven passes from Trubisky and scoring one touchdown as well. The 27-year-old has faced Green Bay five times in his career. He has 27 catches for 414 yards but has failed to score a TD. Look for Robinson to get his first touchdown against the Packers in Week 12 on primetime television.
The Bears foolishly haven't extended Robinson's contract yet this season. Since it looks like Chicago is going to miss the playoffs for the second straight season, don't be surprised if 2020 is Robinson's last year with the Bears.
3. Bears defense struggles against Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams
The Bears are only allowing 20.9 points per game, which is good for sixth in the NFL. However, Chicago's offense is only scoring 19.1, 31st in the league.
In Week 12, we can see the Bears struggling on defense against Rodgers and Davante Adams since the defense is likely going to be on the field too much as a result of Trubisky and Co. going three-and-out too many times. Even during the Brian Urlacher-Lance Briggs era, Rodgers used to have his way against Chicago's defense. We can see the future Hall of Famer and Adams having a big game against Khalil Mack and Co., especially since star safety Eddie Jackson is on the COVID-19 reserve list.
Everyone in Chicago feels bad for the defense because they have played really well this season. Unfortunately, the offense hasn't done the defense any favors.
4. Bears lose to Packers to drop to 5-6
Chicago hasn't won at Lambeau Field since 2015. That was when Jay Cutler led the Bears to a Thanksgiving night win over Rodgers and the Packers.
All signs point toward the Bears losing this game for their fifth straight loss. Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace should be fired after this season. Pace made the monumental mistake of drafting Trubisky in 2017 over Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes. The Chicago franchise may never recover from that blunder.
As for Nagy, he thinks he's smarter than he really is. He finally gave up play-calling duties in Week 10 to Bill Lazor, but even Lazor is going to look like a fool with the offensive line he's working with.
