Chicago Bears All-Pro Khalil Mack was traded from the Oakland Raiders last year, but before the trade, he expected to stay with the Raiders long term.
With the Raiders and Bears facing off this weekend all eyes are watching to see how Mack does against his former team, and there have been a lot of questions directed towards him about his time in California.
“That's the expectation when you get drafted to a team: You want to be there for the long haul and bring championships and all those good things,” Mack said via ESPN. “It's the business side of it that doesn't really let you do that.”
Mack was drafted by the Raiders fifth overall in the 2014 draft and quickly developed into one of the best players in the league. The big disconnect between two sides was when they couldn't come to a long term agreement, and the Raiders decided to trade him to the Bears.
Article Continues BelowMack was asked if he would have any extra emotion going against his former team and he said he is trying not to have too much emotion because that can cause problems.
“You can't play this game with too much emotion, man. Ultimately, I try to stay focused on the task at hand and understanding the situation and understanding what they're going to be thinking that I feel. But ultimately, I'm going to go out there and do what I do — and that's play football and love the game that I play, you know what I mean?”
Even if Mack isn't playing with too much emotion, there is no doubt he is going to be fired up, and a sack or two would be that much sweeter.
