Center Tyler Linderbaum would be an ideal addition for the Bengals, as they look to make another deep postseason run in 2022.
Here are the top three reasons Linderbaum and the Bengals are a perfect match.
Why Tyler Linderbaum is the Best Fit for the Bengals in the 2022 NFL Draft
3. He's a low-risk prospect
Linderbaum is one of the safer prospects in the entire draft class. He's a product of Iowa, a program that is notorious for developing top-tier offensive line talent. It also helps that Linderbaum was the best center in the nation throughout his final two years in college. He just claimed the Rimington Award in his final year, a season after just missing out on the trophy. Linderbaum also has a fantastic track record of staying on the field, as he started every single game in each of his last two seasons. Overall, all of these factors point to Linderbaum being a low-risk prospect who should be ready to start as soon as he joins the Bengals.
2. He fills a positional need
While the Bengals did spend plenty of money on their offensive line in free agency, they could still use some help. They are currently set to start Ted Karras at center but it would be beneficial to utilize him as a swing lineman instead of a starter. If Linderbaum starts, the Bengals can use Karras as a backup across the interior of the offensive line, something they sorely need. Karras could also start at left guard, as presumed starter Jackson Carman is coming off of a brutal rookie campaign that saw him struggle throughout. Taking Linderbaum gives the Bengals an instant starter at center while improving the depth throughout the offensive line. That's the definition of a win-win situation.

1. He should be available when the Bengals use their first-round pick
Despite his status as the best center in the draft, Linderbaum will be available late in the first round. Centers are rarely selected in the first round, and there aren't many teams that will be looking for a center early in this draft. That's a huge win for the Bengals. They don't have much draft capital, which makes trading up difficult. They probably won't have to move up for Linderbaum, meaning a blue-chip prospect should just fall into their lap. That's a huge win for a team that needs to add as much talent as possible in pursuit of another Super Bowl appearance.
