The Cincinnati Bengals have ushered in quite the youth movement over the last couple of years. This has resulted in the departure of several key players on both sides of the ball.
Despite now being one of the veteran players on the team, wide receiver A.J. Green is not worried about any uncertainty regarding his status. According to Jim Owczarski of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Green is confident he has not lost a step:
There is a good reason for Green's optimism. He has been the gold standard for No. 1 wideouts ever since he arrived in Cincinnati. Although Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey would argue otherwise, he has shown no signs of slowing down.
Despite the Bengals' lackluster offense last season, Green still managed to put up stellar numbers. He finished the 2017 campaign with 75 receptions for 1,078 yards and eight touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who just turned 30.
Speaking of which, Green also finds himself taking on more of a leadership role with each year. The seven-time Pro Bowler is by far the oldest player in the Bengals' receiving corps. That said, they are hoping he can impart some knowledge on the next generation of wideouts such as John Ross and Tyler. Green will undoubtedly oblige given his reputation as a great teammate. However, it is clear that he will be focused on erasing any doubt about his age being a cause for concern.
