Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals were defeated in the Super Bowl by the Los Angeles Rams. One of the most concerning things to emerge from the Super Bowl loss was the fact that Burrow was sacked seven times by the Rams' front. Los Angeles had one of the better pass rushes of any team in the postseason, though the Rams also exposed an issue that had been plaguing the Bengals all season long. Not only that, but the Bengals' lackluster protection of Burrow resulted in another injury for the second-year pro.

Bengals owner Mike Brown spoke to reporters and offered an honest admission on Burrow, via NFL.com:

Brown said that Burrow is “a smart player” and is “tough as nails” but that the franchise “wants to do some things to help him.” It's clear that the Bengals view Burrow as their guy — how could they not?

However, the Bengals owner recognizes that Burrow needs some help, particularly in the protection department. The Bengals' second-year starter has been sacked 83 times in his first two seasons in the league — and his first year was shortened due to injury.

The Bengals seem committed to making sure that Joe Burrow stays upright in the future. That's a good sign coming off a tough Super Bowl loss, so look for them to make moves to help the offensive line in the offseason.
