Following a nearly three-year absence from the NFL, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon made his return to the field this past season where he largely picked up where he left off.
Gordon has continued to make a strong impression on his teammates in regards to what he brings to the table with his physical ability on the field. Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield is the latest to voice praise toward the 27-year-old that he has never seen a wide receiver like him before in his football career, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
“I’ve never seen anybody like him,” Mayfield said.
The off-the-field issues in the past aside, Gordon has proven throughout his brief NFL career that he is a game-changing talent. He was able to put that on display in the second half of last season in his brief time on the field 18 catches on 43 targets for 335 receiving yards and a touchdown in just five games played.
Article Continues BelowGordon could be poised to have a breakout campaign in his first full year back in the league as he could emerge as the top receiving target in the passing game alongside Pro Bowl wideout Jarvis Landry and third-year wide receiver Corey Coleman.
He has shown in the past that he can be a game-changing talent when given the opportunity to play in a significant role as exemplified by his 2013 season where he led the league with 1,646 receiving yards on 87 receptions along with nine touchdowns.
It has been a difficult path back to the NFL, but it may finally appear that Gordon has his life away from the game in order as there haven't been any issues with him arise over the last several months. If he's able to keep that in line, the sky could be the line for him on the field in 2018.
