Back in Week 16, the Browns headed to their game against the New York Jets without the majority of its receiving corps. Jarvis Landry, Rashad Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and KhaDarel Hodge were all tagged as COVID-19 close contacts which required them to be quarantined and were eventually ruled out of the game.
Article Continues BelowWithout key weapons on the field, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield had a hard time leading the offense which led to an untimely 23-16 defeat against the lowly Jets. The Week 16 tilt eventually put their postseason aspirations in jeopardy heading to their final game of the season with a 10-5 record.
All four receivers already came off the team's COVID-19/reserve list in time for Sunday's all-important matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even with the group's looming return, the Browns will still miss some men on the field as they recently placed linebacker Malcolm Smith and tight end Harrison Bryant on the list due to positive COVID-19 cases. Cornerback Denzel Ward was also placed on the list back on Thursday which officially sidelines him for Week 17.
Even with a depleted lineup and coaching staff, the Browns are still aiming to brave the storm and get the job done against the Steelers to ultimately snag their first postseason berth since 2002.
