The Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens play their first preseason game of the year on Thursday. Colts head coach Shane Steichen released the plan for the quarterbacks on Tuesday.

“Shane Steichen says Anthony Richardson will start against the Ravens Thursday. He’ll play a quarter and a half with Daniel Jones playing the rest of the half.”

“Then Jones will start against Green Bay and play a quarter and a half with Richardson finishing the half.”

Steichen's plan is to give both quarterbacks an opportunity to showcase their talents this preseason. Steichen is giving Richardson the nod this week against the Ravens.

This tweet is great news to see if you are Colts fans. Richardson needs to keep finding scraps and bits of momentum to help him gain the confidence that he needs. The former first-round draft pick has a ton of talent but is still trying to put everything together in Indianapolis.

Daniel Jones will get his turn next week against Green Bay. The plan right now is for Jones to give Richardson a run for his money. That is a win for the Colts if that happens. They want the decision to be tough later this month. If Jones can have a strong showing in a short amount of time this week, and impress the following week in 1.5 quarters, then there is a legitimate chance that Jones could steal the starting role. As of now, it seems Richardson is doing enough to keep his job, but he must do it when it matters.
