With Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback Dak Prescott lighting up the New York Giants in a Week 1 victory, the fourth-year player may have a resolution in his ongoing contract dispute sooner than later.

Per Charean Williams in NBC Sports' ProFootballTalk:

“You have to ask [Jerry Jones what he means],” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan on Monday. “I don’t know what. . . He has different meanings for different words. He knows this better than anybody: Obviously Dak’s got to be happy with it. At the same time, we’ve got to make a deal that works for both of us, and Dak’s very unselfish and knows this thing is going to work itself out. I think in due time it will find its way. I think we’ll put this in the rear view mirror hopefully sooner than later.”

The 26-year-old budding star led the way for Dallas in their season-opening win over Eli Manning and the Giants, 35-17, although the score appeared to be more lopsided for the majority of the game. Prescott threw 25 completions for an outstanding 405 yards—including four touchdowns.

Easing his way back into action, Ezekiel Elliott, who the Cowboys reached a long-term contract extension after a preseason holdout, rushed for 53 yards on 13 carries.

Now it's Prescott's turn to earn big money. He was Dallas' fourth-round selection from the 2016 NFL Draft and immediately had to take the reins of the offense when veteran QB Tony Romo went down with a back injury. It appears, though, that the Cowboys want Dak as their guy for years to come.
