Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has received significant criticism following his disappointing performance in their 16-8 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Prescott completed 19 of his 29 passes for just 170 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
But despite Prescott’s unimpressive start to the season, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has continued to back his quarterback in a big way, saying he remains one of the team’s strengths both now and in the future.

I feel good about our future. I don't want to be trite but teams have lost games and have had bad games with the best quarterbacks there's ever been. I'm talking about generally speaking.
“You can have an outing that you'd like to have back, but man alive, one of the strengths of our team going in against the Giants or one of the strengths of our team as far as I can see into the future is Dak Prescott.”
Prescott will certainly appreciate the public support the team’s owner has shown in him. As if the young quarterback wasn’t already feeling enough pressure, Jones was wise not to add another problem into Prescott's head by overreacting to one bad game.
However, Jones’ patience isn’t going to last forever. Prescott, who hasn't been able to rediscover the heights of his excellent rookie year, will still need to repay his owner's trust sooner rather than later. A big performance against their big division rivals in the Giants on Sunday would certainly go a long way toward accomplishing just that.
